His Birth Chick Corea was born on June 12,1941 in Chelsea, Massachusetts. His full name is Armando Anthony ‘Chick’ Corea. Chick Corea’s father was a trumpet player. His father was also the leader of the Dixieland Band. They played in Boston during the 1930s and the 1940s.
His Early Life Chick Corea started playing the piano at the age of eight. Chick Corea started to play the drums at the age of eight. Later in his life he moved to New York and he started his career.
Influences Chick Corea was influenced by people like Charlie Parker, Bud Powell, Horace Silver, Lester Young, Beethoven, Bach, Chopin, Mozart and many others.
Early Career Chick Corea started his professional career in the 1960’s. He started playing with a trumpeter named Blue Mitchell. His first album was release in 1966 and was titled Tones for Joan’s Bones
His Bands In the early 1970’s he became the leader of a band called Circle. Later he formed another band called Return to Forever. Later his bands went from playing Jazz to more of a rock type band.
Other Bands He also had other bands that included: Elektric Band Akoustic Band Origin He also worked and made several duet albums with Gary Burton.
His Own Record Company Eventually Chick Corea made his own record company. It was called Stretch Record. One of his most famous compositions was called Spain.
