  1. 3.7 Properties of Polygons I can identify different types of polygons. I can tell the properties of each type of polygon. I can categorize quadrilaterals based on their properties.

  2. Polygon Review • SRB 142

  3. Notes and Definitions • Polygon – a 2 dimensional, closed figure made up of line segments (no curves). • The line segments of a polygon may NOT cross. What do you notice about the number of sides and the number of vertices?

  4. Naming Polygons • Polygons are named for the number of sides they have.

  5. Polygon Sort Put the polygons into 2 or 3 groups according to any rule you choose. Now try these: >At least 2 sides are parallel (pic) >Convex and nonconvex (pic) > At least on angle is greater than 90° (pic)

  6. Playing Polygon Capture SRB 328 Activity sheets 3 and 4 from Math Journal

  7. Classifying Quadrilaterals What is a quadrilateral? Do you know another name for “quadrilateral”? Work with a partner to place the 8 quadrangles from this morning under the appropriate categories. Refer to SRB 145-146

  8. Notes and Definitions Use empty copy of flow chart

  9. Flow chart with pictures Students with index cards read (teacher’s manual 191B)

  10. Whole Class • MM88 – Connecting Vertices

  11. Math boxes 3.7 – page 81 • Raise your hand to be checked • Study Link 3.7 • Cut out MM 89 and put them in your ziploc bag
