What do we do with it? • Functions as the complication / problem • Show how it is demonstrated in the story • All the characters and actions must be CENTRED around it • Must be engaged as early as possible • Latest by the 2nd paragraph
What is your job? • Show how the complication / problem is solved • Show how the issue is dealt with, ie. How forgiveness took place • Therefore, the issue cannot be “absent” in the story, ie. the lack of forgiveness
At the end of the story • Always include one paragraph of your thoughts on the one word theme • What you have learnt from it • How do you feel about it • How has it affected or changed you
How do we approach it? • Literal – fire = flames • Figurative – fire = passion, enthusiasm • Could it belong to a phrase? • Flight = Take flight = escape • Race = Rat race = our competitive urge to succeed in life • Turn it into a personal recount question yourself. TRY Write about a time when you were trapped in a burning building / house.
