Ortega Library Floor Plan design concept • Library building and entry visible from Ortega Street • Open and flexible floor plan with good sight lines from the service desk • Restrooms located adjacent to public areas and program room • Wanted to create views from within the library as well as outside the library for easy access
Ortega Library Site Context • The building site is located on Ortega Street and 39thAve., adjacent to Rec. & Park complex playground • A unique feature of this site is its location. The current Library is sited on a level platform that is 10 feet above street level at the west end of the site. The site provides a nice view to Pacific Ocean

Ortega Library • Within the library, there is a diverse amount of context that surrounds it. • Facing North: Residential • Facing west and east: Schools • Facing south: A park complex with playground and plaza
Ortega Library Parti Parti- is the basic scheme or concept of an architectural design. The use of rectangular shape is highly used. Views can be maintained throughout on particular area.

Surry Hills Library Objective Concept • Was to establish a new Australian standard of excellence for environmentally sustainable design in civic buildings • The building incorporates many sustainable design innovations and seeks to integrate these into the architecture and explore the expressive potential of such systems.
Surry Hills Library Info on Green Systems • include a thermal labyrinth for passive filtering and tempering of the air, solar-tracking timber louvre systems, automated fabric shading, mixed mode ventilation, extensive photovoltaic array, geothermal cooling bores, green roof, rainwater collection and recycling, and sustainable material selection.
