(CGHD) • Conduct policy and program relevant research that improves health status of populations • Serve as advisors to governments, agencies, and organizations • Strengthen national capacity to conduct, analyze and communicate applied research • Bring the results of field research and advising into DGH classrooms and activities • Creates practicum opportunities • Come to the upcoming CGHD Forums

Global Health Competencies In low- and middle-income settings, graduates will be able to: • Use program and budget management skills to design and implement health programs • Apply a multidisciplinary approach to analyze health systems and institutions involved in financing and providing preventative and curative health services at the multilateral, bilateral, national, and community levels • Integrate information and apply models from epidemiological, economic, behavioral, and cultural perspectives to promote social changes required to improve the health of populations

  18. Pharmaceuticals Program … to provide students with the knowledge and expertise to address pharmaceutical issues from a public health perspective. Application Process www.bu.edu/pharm All students who have been accepted to BUSPH for the MPH program are eligible to apply. Information Session Sept 5th at 5pm in L109 Applications due September 17th! Requirements 12 credits, Pharmaceuticals related practicum, attendance at Seminar Series Director: Dr. Chris Gill, Associate Professor (DGH) Program Manager: Carey Howard

Summer Exchange with INSP, MexicoRuns late May to early August; 6 credits Components: • Conduct Public Health Field Assessment in Mexico, with INSP students • Spanish Fluency Required • Spring Semester (Boston) preparation for field work, under direction of Dr. Veronika Wirtz • Information Session in Dec/Jan Meets Practicum Requirement

BU Howard Thurman Center Rosetta Stone Program http://www.bu.edu/thurman/programs/rosetta-stone/ BU African Studies Center (http://www.bu.edu/africa/) offers courses in several African languages, as well as a certificate program and funding opportunities French Cultural Center(http://www.frenchculturalcenter.org/index.cfm) Boston is a global city: you will find many more opportunities to learn a language with a little effort!
