    3. 1. Background Senior Secondary Liberal Studies (LS) is a response to the community’s expressed needs for a cross-curricular learning opportunity for all senior secondary students (F.4-6). LS also complements other senior secondary subjects in providing for academic excellence, broadening perspectives and knowledge and connecting learning more closely to real-life experience, e.g. current issues in society & world. Extracted from Liberal Studies Curriculum & Assessment Guide 2007

    4. 2. Rationale LS provides opportunities for students to explore outstanding issues relevant to the human condition in a wide range of contexts. LS enables students to understand the contemporary world and its pluralistic nature. It enables students to make connections among different areas of knowledge, examine issues from a variety of perspectives, and construct personal knowledge & opinions of immediate relevance to themselves in today’s world.
