  9. Working Backwards (P3) Ali was trying to decide when to get up in the morning. He needs 45 minutes to get ready for school. It takes him 25 minutes to drive to school. He wanted to get to school 20 minutes early to use the library. If school starts at 7.30am, what time should he get up? Ali went to the library for 20 minutes. Then it was 7.30am. He went to the library 20 minutes before 7.30am, at 7.10am. 1 2 He drove for 25 minutes. Then it was 7.10am. He got in his car 25 minutes before 7.10am, at 6.45am. He needed 45 minutes to get ready for school. Then it was 6.45am. 3 He began getting ready 45 minutes before 6.45am, at 6.00am. He should get up at 6 a.m.

Mdm Lim wants to rearrange all the chairs to form a square. She wants the same number of chairs on each side of the square. How many chairs must she put on each side of the square?

  11. Solution Incorrect Solution 4 x 6 = 24 24 ÷4 = 6 She must put 6 chairs on each side of the square. 4 x 6 = 24 24 – 4 = 20 20 ÷4 = 5 5 + 2 =7 She must put 7 chairs on each side of the square.
