Registrar Data • Student is added when Admission Fee is Paid • Internet Kit is sent via US Mail with instructions • If student doesn’t register, account is deleted • Otherwise, account is deleted 5 years after last registered term
Registrar Data (Proposed) • An “interested” person may register for an account over the web • Internet Kit is sent via US Mail • Account is deleted: • If person doesn’t pay Admission Fee • If person doesn’t register • 5 years after last registered term
HR Data • Staff are added up to 3 months prior to appointment • Staff terminated w/o benefits are deleted on Dec 31 of the year following termination • Staff terminated with benefits keep their account for life
Alumni Assoc • Alumni Association sells accounts to members • Typical method for staff terminated w/o benefits to keep account
CSOM Alumni • CSOM initiative to build community • Historic records for graduates without data in current systems • Supplemental data for recent graduates
WebCT • Needed way to add accounts for “visitors” • Pseudo accounts for Administrative roles • Access for students not registered at U of MN (future Shib role?) • Explicit dates given for account lifetime
Sponsored Accounts • $12 to create account • $8/mo to keep account • Must have departmental sponsor • Variety of people • Regents • Collaborators • Buddies
Student Orgs • Created on request of Student Org • Student Org must be in good standing • Reviewed yearly • Do not have same characteristics as a personal account • Blocked from applications that expect people
Departmental Accounts • Created for any departmental workgroup • Do not have same characteristics as a personal account • Blocked from applications that expect people
“Guest” Accounts • Process where applications can create accounts “on the fly” • Typically web apps at this time • Explicit lifetime for account required • Valid (external) e-mail address required
