Background Information • Ted Sr. was a successful amateur tennis player • He needed more income so he bought a custard making and sold frozen custard with a traveling carnival • He opened his first stand in St. Petersburg, Florida on 1929 • Following locations were on Natural Bridge Road, South Grand, and the last one was on historic Route 66.

  4. Physical Appearance • White edging to represent Christmas • Weathered out familiar neon sign • No inside seating

  5. The product • Flavored Vanilla custard with added flavors and toppings • The concrete that is handed to the customer upside down

  6. Popularity • Ted Drewes closes from December to February • Number of people go there all year round • During the winter when there is snow the lot is completely green from all the trees. • During the warmer months the lot is filled with all kinds of people.

  7. People who have never been to St. Louis have heard of the place. • The Chippewa stand has been in the same location for almost 50 years. • The customers of Ted Drewes symbolizes the American dream, that is to say the crowd that surrounds the building is extremely cross cultural, and are of all kinds of nationalities and ages.

  8. Seventy-five years after opening, Ted Drewes is still just as popular as it has been, which is due to Ted’s vision and drive for having the best custard and service . Ted Drewes is the best frozen custard stand in America due to respect for the hard work, morals, and dedication of the family to keep the business great and the frozen custard delicious.
