Bell Work: • Go to MJSHS Home Page • Click on Staff • Click on Melinda Wise • Click on Seventh Grade • Click onBase Word Worksheets • Save to your server • 7.6.9, 7.1.2 8-20 Objective: Introduction to Greek/Latin roots routine To be ready for Tuesday: Bring signed syllabus by Wednesday Find three words you know for each base word

See who can get the most correct in a row! 8-22 Objective: Continue Literary Genre Exploration 7.2.1, 7.3.1 To be ready for Thursday: Finish Genre worksheet—come to class with any questions you still have

Bell Work • Linking verbs act as verbs, but aren’t as active. • List these linking verbs in your notes: am, is, are, was, were be, been, being 9-12 Objective: Read “Exploring the Titanic” To be ready for Thursday: Create 5 “new words” using your bases from week 1-4 You will have a substitute tomorrow and Friday.

  23. Bell Work: • An adjective modifies/describes a noun—what size, color, mood, etc. • List as many adjectives as you can to describe something in the room (not a person) 9-19 Objective: Finish Titanic timeline To be ready for Thursday: Finish Week 5 Base Word Quiz at home!

  29. Bell Work • If you would need to say the word “and” in-between adjectives, you would need a comma. Ex.   31. Bell Work: • An adverb modifies a verb, adjective, or another adverb. • It tells how you do something. • Ex. Incredibly sad, runs quickly • Find all of the adverbs in sentences 1-5 and underline them. 10-1 Objective: Readers Theatre To be ready for Tuesday: Bring Reading Calendar Find 5 words that include each of your prefixes

  32. Bell Work • Did you notice that adverbs usually end in “-ly”? • Underline all adverbs in sentences 6-10 10-2 Objective: “Monsters” setting and character discussion To be ready for Wednesday: Bring your reading calendar! Write a sentence for each word you found yesterday.

  33. Bell Work • These are some irregular adverbs: far, fast, hard, high, late, long. Low, well • Write them in your notes—notice that they indicate time or space. 10-3 Objective: “Monsters” conflict and plot To be ready for Thursday: Bring your reading calendar! Make 7 “New words” including prefixes and bases Find/organize all notes for “Casey” and “Monsters”

Bell Work • Conjunctions are words that join other words together. • List these in your notebook: • For, and, nor, but, or, yet, so • Remember FANBOYS 10-10 Objective: Draft narrative To be ready for Thursday: Write a sentence for each word you looked up Monday Be able to finish your draft tomorrow—should be half way through your story!
