Catalyst • Pick up a new Daily Work Organizer. • Find your new seat. • Record your goal for the week. • Catalyst: • The three subatomic particles that make up an atom are protons, neutrons, and electrons. Protons are positively charged and are in the nucleus of the atom with the neutral neutrons. Protons determine the physical properties of an atom. Electrons are negatively charged. Electrons are tiny, fast moving particles that swirl around the nucleus in the electron cloud. They determine the chemical reactivity of an atom. • Are you more like a proton, neutron, or electron? Why?

Chemical Reactions Reading Pick up an article and questions at the back of class. Answer all the questions on a separate sheet of paper. Make careful calculations! These questions will be graded. If you need help, raise your hand. If you would like to use a chemistry book, pick one up at the back of class. When everyone is done with the benchmark, we will pause and review the calculations together.
