  2. Timed Writing Card Stock • Timed Writing Card Stock • Includes information about how to prepare for and take a timed in-class essay • Also includes time outlines for 1.5 and 2 hour class essays

  3. They Say/I Say Card Stock • They Say/I Say Card Stock • Provides students with information about how to introduce and properly use sources • Uses templates from They Say/I Say book

  4. Reading & Writing Posters • Reading & Writing Posters • We have created four posters to place around the computer labs in CB • Most of these posters either reinforce the idea of the importance of reading and writing (for example, “Good Writers are Good Readers”) or serve as helpful reminders (for example, the ABCD’s of Timed Writing)

  5. “Take a Book, Leave a Book” • Add more reading material on the “Take a Book, Leave a Book” bookshelf • Add another “Take a Book, Leave a Book” bookshelf in DDH

  6. Reading Boards • Two Reading Boards – in CB and DDH • CB was designed in Fall around the Runner Reader book When the Emperor was Divine • In the Spring, the CB Reading Board will focus on Summer Reading suggestions from the faculty • The DDH board features quotes about reading and writing

  7. Reading & Writing Website • We will be creating a Web page (part of CSUB site) devoted to achieving excellence in reading, writing, and thinking, that also promotes how to become better reader, writers, and thinkers. • The page would have links to sites, such as the Academic Word list and tutoring information. • In addition, comments from other departments/professors discussing their expectations • Comments from employers and articles discussing the importance of reading, writing, and critically thinking skills • A word for the day or week may also be included or a link to the Merriam-Webster word for the day. Also, a link to the youtube WSL library video.
