DFID Context • Evolving UK political climate.. • Responding to the international context & thinking.. • Relationships: 28 focus countries • Regular review points.. • 2015 review (national systems/fill data gaps through innovation/ open data/ civil society/international system) • Developing a DFID data roadmap: Harnessing the data revolution to deliver the SDGs and leave no-one behind.. • Strategic Partnerships • Support to countries to strengthen and modernise systems.. • Structures (28 country/40 central stats advisers)

Lessons learned • Crucial to coordinate around NSDSs& others.. • Political economy analysis is important.. • Country ownership & alignment needed to build sustainability.. • More needed to strengthen relationships with users to promote data use and build trust.. • Presence of an in-country stats adviser critical.. • More to do on dissemination…. • Complementary Bilateral and centrally managed progs strengthens successes. • Need to be flexible and consider non-stats support (procurement, planning, M&E)..
