Helps students develop a sense of social responsibility as well as strong & transferable intellectual & practical skills such as communication, analytical & problem-solving skills, & a demonstrated ability to apply knowledge & skills in the real-world settings.

It provides broad exposure to multiple disciplines & forms the basis for developing important intellectual & civic capacities. General Edu. may also be called the core curriculum or the liberal studies.

Emerging Practices The skills most widely included in institutional learning goals are writing, critical thinking, quantitative reasoning, & oral communication skills. The areas of knowledge most commonly included are humanities, science, social sciences, global cultures, & mathematics.
