Survey Info This survey is designed by the Urbana Education Association’s Negotiations Team to determine the District’s teachers’ priorities during the negotiations process.
SECTION I • Number of Questions= 6 • (Questions 1-6) DEMOGRAPHIC INFORMATION(Total Number of Participants= 118) • The participants of the survey are teachers (n= 118) from eight schools (5 elementary; 1 middle school; 1 high school; and 1 other or combined schools) in the District. • Subject area of teachers is divided in four sections such as Regular classroom (64%); Specialty area (Art, Music, PE, Computer, Library) (18%); Special Education, Pupil Personnel, Support Services (16%); and Other (2%) .
The majority of the participating teachers consist of experienced teachers with 0ver 20 years of teaching experience (39.8%). The majority of the participating teachers (35.6%) have over 20 years of experience in the District. 32% of the teachers have 0-4 years experience in the District.
The majority of the participating teachers (61.9%) hold a Master’s Degree (BA+30). 77.1% of the teachers have primary insurance plans.

A total number of 33 questions covers four areas of priority. Rating Scale (T)= TOP PRIORITY (M)= MEDIUM PRIORITY (L)= LOW PRIORITY (N)= NOT IMPORTANT

(A) PRIORITY RANKING (Total Number of Participants= 118) 50.8% of the participating teachers ranked Salary over Working Condition, Health Benefits, and Other Benefits. • SECTION III • Number of Questions= 3 • (Questions A-C)
(B) SALARY CHOICES (Total Number of Participants= 118) $0.4% of the participating teachers chose the option of distributing new money on the salary schedule to provide a step advance for those not at maximum and spread the remaining money across the schedule (traditional distribution).
(C) TIME PREFERENCES (Total Number of Participants= 118) 42.3% of the participating teachers preferred adding non-instructional days to the teachers’ work year – no change in length of day(If time is proposed to be added to the teachers’ work schedule by the Board).
Summary of Findings and Recommendations • As a result of this survey, designed by the Urbana Education Association’s Negotiations Team, a number of issues that are important to teachers were identified and the top priorities of the participating teachers were ranked in descending order. • In Section III, although 50.8% of the participating teachers ranked Salary over Working Condition, Health Benefits, and Other Benefits,six out of Top Ten Priorities of Teachers are related to Working Conditions. • The information obtained regarding teacher priorities should be analyzed carefully by the Association in determining its priorities during the negotiations processand at least six out of Top Ten Priorities of teachers should be treated as non-negotiable items.
