Sapling Wireless Clock System • Works off of Sapling’s SMA Series Wireless Master Clock with a 1-Watt transmitter built-in • Each clock has its own transceiver which receives and sends the signal to the surrounding clocks • Works on 915-928 MHz frequency-hopping technology (No FCC license!)
Sapling Wireless Clock System • The Sapling Advantages – How to Sell the Wireless System EACH CLOCK HAS A REPEATER BUILT-IN NO FCC LICENSE RECEIVES SIGNAL FROM MULTIPLE PATHS WEB-BASED MASTER CLOCK PATENTED FREQUENCY-HOPPING TECHNOLOGY FULLY COMPLIANT
Sapling Wireless Clock System • Frequently Asked Questions • Q: If we have a big facility, do we need multiple repeaters? • A: Each Sapling clock has a repeater built in, eliminating the need for multiple repeaters. However, if there is a large distance between clocks, we do offer wireless repeaters and network repeaters. • Q: Can we use analog and digital clocks in the same system? • A: Yes, you can use SAL-2 Series Analog Clocks as well as SBL Series Digital Clocks in the same system. • Q: Will the wireless system cause interference with other equipment in the facility? • A: No, the wireless system switches frequencies instantaneously and never stays on the same frequency for a long period of time, eliminating any possible interference.
Sapling TalkBack TechnologyTM • Each clock communicates its status back to the master clock • Reports back useful information like signal strength, battery life, mechanical status and more! • Sends out email alerts for proactive and preventative maintenance
Sapling TalkBack TechnologyTM • The Sapling Advantages NO ADDITIONAL OR SERVER REQUIRED SOFTWARE EMAIL ALERTS BATTERY MONITORING MECHANICAL OR DISPLAY FAILURE ALERTS NO FCC LICENSE REQUIRED SIGNAL STRENGTH
Sapling IP Clock System • Utilizes the Power over Ethernet protocol for power/data on the same CAT5 cable • Receives time from any NTP/SNTP server for synchronization • Completely web based – Each clock has its own built-in web interface for control of its settings • Can be managed from an IP Monitor PC program to distribute system-wide changes or to view each clock’s current status
Sapling IP Clock System • The Sapling Advantages IP TALKBACK MONITOR SOFTWARE SERVER SYNCHRONIZATION REDUNDANCY BUILT-IN WEB INTERFACE Energy efficient EMAIL ALERTS Fully compliant
Sapling IP Clock System • Frequently Asked Questions • Q: Do I need an injector for the PoE clock or do I just plug it into the network? • A: PoE clocks use an injector to induce voltage on the CAT5 cable, however there are many PoE-enabled switches available in the market. • Q: Do I need a master clock to run the system? • A: No, you don’t need a conventional master clock to run the system. However, Sapling does offer a NTP server for increased accuracy and for bell scheduling. • Q: Does each clock need to have its own special IP address assigned? • A: The IP clocks have DHCP built right into the clock for automatic assignment of IP addresses from your DHCP server. However, they can also be assigned a static IP address.
Wired Systems • Types of Wired Systems • Sapling offers three types of wired systems: • 2-Wire Digital Communication • RS485 Communication • Sync-Wire Communication
Sapling 2-Wire Digital Communication • Works on 24V systems using analog and/or digital clocks • Data/Power run on the same pair of wires for easy installation • Reverse polarity detection • Runs off of Sapling’s Converter Box power supply/data booster
Sapling 2-Wire Digital Communication • The Sapling Advantages Power/Data on the same line Instant correction Simple installation
Sapling 2-Wire Digital Communication • Frequently Asked Questions • Q: Does the 2-wire system work on 24V and 110V? • A: The 2-Wire system works only on 24V clocks only. • Q: How many clocks can I put on one Converter Box? • A: This depends on what type of clock, how many clocks will be put on a run and what gauge wire is being used. Our terrific technical support staff can help you with any questions you may have. • Q: Is there a limit to how many clocks can be put on the system? • A: No, there is no limit as long as there are enough Converter Boxes to supply power/data to the clocks.
Sapling RS485 Communication • Runs on local power • Utilizes a daisy-chain configuration for communication on a pair of wires • Works on 24V, 110V or 220V analog or digital clocks • Great for small systems
Sapling RS485 Communication • The Sapling Advantages No need for an expensive masTer clock Instant correction Works on a wide variety of voltages
Sapling RS485 Communication • Frequently Asked Questions Q: What gauge wire can you use for the communication line? A: Sapling recommends 18-22AWG wire. Q: Is there any additional equipment we need to make this system work? A: No, the RS485 system only requires a master clock and slave clocks. There is no additional equipment required. Q: How long does it take for the clocks to correct? A: The clocks can receive data as often as once a second, and the longest it takes a clock to correct once it receives the signal is 5 minutes (analog clock). The digital clocks change instantly.
Sapling Sync-Wire Communication • Overview • Corrects every 12 hours • Great for interfacing with other systems and retrofitting • Automatic protocol detection makes setup extremely easy
Sapling Sync-Wire Communication • The Sapling Advantages Automatic protocol detection Works on a wide variety of voltages Interfaces with other systems
Sapling Sync-Wire Communication • Frequently Asked Questions • Q: What types of systems can this interface with? • A: 59 minute correction, 58 minute correction, National Time, Rauland, Dukane and more! • Q: Is there any additional equipment we need to make this system work? • A: No, the sync-wire system only requires a master clock and slave clocks. There is no additional equipment required. • Q: Do I have to use a Sapling master clock or can I use my existing one? • A: Depending on the model, you may be able to use your existing master clock to run the sync-wire system.
