  2. Birth • Albert Einstein was born on May 14, 1879 in Ulm, Germany.

  3. Parents • Einstein’s mother was a violinist • His father didn’t want him to go into the scientific field • His uncle fully supported him

  4. Schooling • Einstein failed an examination to get into the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology • Spent next year at Aarua secondary school • Had access to first rate physics facilities • Returned to SFIT in 1896 • Graduated in 1900 as a secondary school teacher

  5. Beliefs • Was a pacifist • Was strongly opposed to the Nazi Regime in Germany

  6. Clerk Work • Einstein worked as a clerk in Switzerland after school

  7. First 1905 paper • Examined the phenomenon in which electromagnetic energy seemed to be emitted from radiating objects • This was contradictory to the popular scientific beliefs of the time

  8. The Beliefs of the Time • The classic electromagnetic theory assumed that electromagnetic energy consisted of propagating waves

  9. Theory of Relativity • This stated that as the velocity of an electron approaches the speed of light then the electron’s mass increases

  10. Third 1905 Paper • This paper calculated the trajectory of a microscopic particle buffeted by random collisions with fluid or gas molecules

  11. Later Life • After Einstein’s eclipse predictions were confirmed in 1919 he became a world wide star

  12. Death • Albert Einstein died on April 16, 1955
