Role of the ULR • Raising awareness and promoting the value of learning • Providing information on learning • Working with members to identify learning needs • Working with employers and other partners to improve access to learning opportunities • Monitoring the quality of provision and supporting equal opportunities in learning

Why college learning reps are important • Supporting the college rep in building a team of activists in your college • Supporting the college rep in recruiting new members • NUT as an ‘Education’ Union – www.teachers.org.uk/campaigns • Supporting the college rep in retaining members by offering free training and CPD opportunities through Union membership – www.teachers.org.uk/courses • Working with the division ULR and other local colleges ULRs to create learning and professional development opportunities for members (cluster group opportunities)
