The Vendée Globe challenge is a one man sailing race around the world without call In 2000/2001 Yves took part in his 3rd Vendée Globe Since then he has been called " E.T" He broke his mast on 17th December and rebuilt it alone in a week He ate fish and seaweed that he caught using a sail bag as a net He kept his food in salt that was drying on his boat He took 126 days, 23 hours, and 36 minutes to accomplish his incredible trip And finally finished 13th but was welcomed as a real hero

Amazing winner’s list 1991: 1st in the Solitaire du Figaro 1985: 1stin the Mini Transat race: Brest/Pointe-à-Pitre (record breaker 31d and 20 h 37mn) 1992/93: 4th in the Vendée Globe 1993: 1st in the Route du Café (record breaker 18 days and 23 h 21 mn) 1994: 1st in the Route du Rum 1996/97: Vendée Globe 1997: 1st in the Fastnet Race 1997: 1st in Transat Jacques Vabre with Eric Tabarly (record breaker 19d and 23 h 19 mn) 1998: 1st in Route de l’Or in crew New York-San Francisco(record breaker en 57d and 3 h 21 mn) 1999: 1st in the European Race in crew 2000/01: 13th in Vendée Globe 2001: 1stGrand Prix de Zeebruge and Transat Jacques Vabre 2002: Sailor on Alain Thébaut’s hydrofoil 2004: Transat Québec-Saint Malo in crew 2006: Record of distance covered in 24h at the average speed of 24,91 knots
