1. Government Decree, 26th January 2006 • Brown-eyed people are now second-class citizens. • Brown-eyed people now have to wear a green arm-band at all times. • Brown-eyed people are only allowed to sit on public benches marked with a green circle. • Marriages between Brown-eyed people and any other citizens are forbidden. • Brown-eyed people have to hand in all their jewellery. • Brown-eyed people have to declare how much money they own. • Brown-eyed people have to hand in all their ipods, mobile phones, CDs, computers and bicycles. • Brown-eyed children are no longer allowed to attend state schools. They are not allowed to play with other children. • Brown-eyed people are not allowed to use public transport. • Brown-eyed people are not allowed to use public libraries, buy books, use swimming pools or attend movies or concerts. • Brown-eyed people are not allowed to join youth groups or other clubs. • Brown-eyed people are not allowed to act in films or write books. • Brown-eyed people are only allowed to shop between 4pm and 5pm. • Brown-eyed people are not allowed to keep pets. • Brown-eyed people have to hand in their driving licenses and need police approval before leaving their neighbourhood. • A person who acts contrary to the above laws will be punished with hard labour or imprisonment.

3. Title:Holocaust Memorial Day • Lesson aims: • To investigate the human rights violations committed during the Holocaust and the Rwandan genocide; • To see how one person can make a difference, even in the face of terrible events.

4. Task: • In groups, quietly read the story on your table (each table has a different story). • 2. Prepare to explain to the whole class what the person in the story did. • 3. Answer the questions on the orange sheets in your books in full sentences – consider them carefully and try to write at least a paragraph for each question. (You can help each other answer the questions but noise levels must stay down.)
