DEATH BE NOT PROUD JOHN DONNE MADE BY RONEL MYBURGH
Death be not proud JOHN DONNE Death be not proud, though some have called thee Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so, For those, whom thou think'st thou dost overthrow, Die not, poor death, nor yet canst thou kill me. From rest and sleep, which but thy pictures be, Much pleasure, then from thee much more must flow, And soonest our best men with thee do go, Rest of their bones, and soul's delivery. Thou art slave to Fate, Chance, kings, and desperate men, And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell. And poppy or charms can make us sleep as well. And better than thy stroke; why swell'st thou then? One short sleep past, we wake eternally, And death shall be no more; death, thou shalt die. MADE BY RONEL MYBURGH
Allusion - the poem alludes to THE FOLLOWING EXTRACT FROM THE SCRIPTURES: "Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed - in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet . . . . then the saying that is written will come true: 'Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?' The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." 1 Corinthians 15: 51-57 MADE BY RONEL MYBURGH

"Death, thou shalt die" therefore is a command. Nothing will get in the way of Death's demise . Death will die and there is no further argument about it! There is no question about it!
