WPA’s Birth • WPA was created in 1935 • Initially Funded with $4.88 Billion dollars • Employed 8.5 million workers • Workers paid $15 to $90 a month • ½ workers employed in NYC
Accomplishments of WPA • Paved 651,000 miles of road • Built 78,000 bridges • Built 8,000 parks • Healthcare awareness • Slum clearance, reforestation, and rural rehabilitation
