  7. Military Service • Rank: Flight Sergeant (F/Sgt Air Gunner) – R.C.A.F • Enlisted in Ottawa on October 2, 1941 I believe George enlisted in order to serve his country, it is a great honour to fight for your country and the extra money wouldn’t be bad either.

  8. Journey in the War • Enlisted in Ottawa on October 2, 1941 • November 11 1942 - July 15 1943: Burn, near Selby (Base: R.A.F. Burn, near Selby) • July 15 - December 10 1943: Tholthorpe • December 10 1943 – June 12 1945: Croft Duties • November - December 1942: No.4 Group, Bomber Command • January 1943 - April 1943: No.6 (RCAF) Group, Bomber Command • Died on April 11, 1943 after air operations overseas, over South Western Germany

Death • Booth went missing after air raid over Frankfurt on April 10 - 11 (flying a Wellington). • Petrol tank thought to be hit by flack from a German warship near Isle of Jersey • Reported “missing” on April 11, 1943 after air operations overseas, over South Western Germany • Believed to be shot down while over target • “Presumed Dead” • Unit 431 Squadron authorized for bombing raid (Plane type: Vickers Wellington X)

  12. Funeral The funeral of Sgt. Holden and Sgt. Butlin. The body of Fl/Sgt. George Booth was not recovered and he is remembered on the Runnymede Memorial.
