ITU-R on-going and future activities • Broadcasting services: Studies under Question ITU-R 118/6 on broadcasting means for public warning and disaster relief (approved 2005). • Mobile services: Revision and update of Report ITU-R M.2033 on PPDR systems and characteristics in line with operational and technology developments; further studies on harmonization of spectrum and on the use of mobile-satellite systems for early warning and disaster relief operations. • Fixed services: Studies on technical and operational characteristics under Questions ITU-R [9/54] on disaster relief wireless communication systems and ITU-R [Doc. 9/52] on systems operating in the MF/HF band used for disaster mitigation and relief (approved May 2006). • Science services: Studies of the protection and spectrum needs of advanced meteorological /Earth exploration satellite systems (WRC-07), and on the implementation technologies for disaster alerting and disaster relief communications solutions.
