Zech 3:1

Jn 8:44

The Prologue Job 1-2 Job: His Character & Calamities • Delivery of the 2nd calamity 2:1-10 • The origin Ù what Job didn’t see vv. 1-6 • Another “Divine summons,” Satan is present v. 1 • Satan failed in his first attempt…now, he was back for another try • He is always on the “prowl” cp. 1 Pet 5:8 • He always looks for the “opportune time” cp. Lk 4:13

The Prologue Job 1-2 Job: His Character & Calamities • Delivery of the 2nd calamity 2:1-10 • The origin Ù what Job didn’t see vv. 1-6 • Another “Divine summons;” Satan is present v. 1 • God again commends “My servant Job” v. 3 • He offers the same praise of Job as before cp. 1:8 • God condemns Satan for “inciting” Him to ruin Job without cause; yet, Job still had integrity (character)

All that a man has he will give in exchange for his life. Touch his bone and his flesh…he’ll curse Thee to Thy face.”

The Prologue Job 1-2 Job: His Character & Calamities • Delivery of the 2nd calamity 2:1-10 • The onslaught Ù what Job “saw” vv. 7-10 • In addition to suffering physically, Job also had to endure emotional trauma v. 9 • His own wife ridiculed his integrity…advised him to “curse God and die” to end his torture • Lesson: sometimes Satan will tempt us to do evil through those we love the most cp. Mt 10:32-39

Rom 8:18 2 Cor 4:16-18
