  3. Sea Floor Spreading • Sea floor spreading is where the ocean floor is extended when two plates move apart. Magma rises through the cracks and pours out onto the ocean floor.

  4. Natural Disasters • Plates move towards one another at convergent boundaries; one plate is forced below another causing earthquakes and composite volcanoes.

  5. Hot Spots • A hot spot is where magma leaks through the Earth’s crust and forms an island/volcano. Over time, that island shifts away from where it was created and magma leaks again and creates another island/volcano.
