To look at Aboriginal Housing and Homelessness issues we must first look at it holistically (The Big Picture) • Colonization • Past, present and future policies, Government policies • Lost of land (dispossession) • Loss of culture • Racism (discrimination) • Marginalisation • Violence and bigotry • Unemployment • Mental health issues • Drugs & alcohol dependency • Family dependency • Inaccessible services • Inappropriate services • Shortage of low income (private housing market) • Domestic violence • Shortage of accommodation public housing • Shortage of accommodation for the special needs • Shortage of large housing to accommodate the extended families and immediate family • Prisoners exiting prisons • Family break down • Lack of family community supports • Disability • Lateral violence • Elder abuse
