  2. Government of Taiwan Republic of Taiwan is a democratic country and its president, the head of state, is directly voted by the people through election. Election: People vote directly in each election. The government of Taiwan is composed of central government and local governments.

  9. President Under the Constitution, the president in Taiwan is named as the head of the state. In-service term for president: four years. Maximum in service terms: two consecutive terms. The president is responsible for dealing with foreign relations and has the absolute power to conduct the forces of air, army and navy.
