Abstract • Interior design is more than just architecture, it is an art. • Cultures, settings, and environments are combined to give people comfortable space at home suitable to their own unique interests. • Scandinavian interior design is an international all-time favorite for many people ranking it amongst the top 10 most popular interior design styles. • The features that make up highly rated interior designs are useful to compare popular styles and to predict which will be most popular in the years to come. • Current research has been focused primarily on identifying the major interior design styles but there have been few predictions made as to which style belongs at the top and will continue to be most popular in the future. • It is important to classify the styles according to their ranking to compare their features and predict which styles are most likely to remain popular or rise in popularity in the future
Intro • Scandinavian interior design is a popular decorative style that emerged in the 1930’s. • The goal of this research paper was to prove that Scandinavian interior design is one of the most popular styles. • Scandinavian interior design contains exquisite features that are included in other very popular styles of interior design which is the reason it has maintained its popularity for such a long time.
Background • Scandinavian design is known for its simplicity, utility, clean lines, and flawless craftsmanship. Trends like large tiles, bold colors, and wide planked wood have grown increasingly popular in 2018. • The term “Scandinavian design” has become universally understood in the creative world to mean simple, clean products inspired by nature and accessible to all. The term originates from an exhibit called Design In Scandinavia that traveled to the United States and Canada in the mid 1950s. • It has a warm inviting feel and modern lines. It is easy to see why Scandinavian design continues to be a mainstay in contemporary interiors.
Conclusion • Scandinavian interior design has features in common with the other most popular interior design styles and has continued to be amongst the most popular style for decades because it changes with time to remain stylish. • Many people say they are fans of this decorative style, would recommend it, and would design their homes with it.
