What is a website? • A website (also spelled Web site) is a collection of related web pages, images, videos or other digital assets that are addressed relative to a common Uniform Resource Locator (URL), often consisting of only the domain name, or the IP address, and the root path ('/') in an Internet Protocol-based network. A web site is hosted on at least one web server, accessible via a network such as the Internet or a private local area network.
Requirements of a website? • Domain Name • Some Webspace • Some money to buy the above two things!
How to register a domain name? Typically provided by many companies for about $10 per year. If you have a credit card, the best service is given by GoDaddy.com Or else the Indian compnay WebComIndia.net is another fantastic option.
Hosting Space! For a personal website about 1GB space is enough. If you want to make a community oriented site 5GB space with 20GB bandwidth is good. The best options to buy some web space are BadaHost.com and Hosting.India.to If you want unlimited hosting, JustHost.com is a viable option.
Now what? You can create your website via the following methods: • Static HTML • Some flash content • Or go for a CMS like WP,Joomla, etc

Minimum Hosting Needs To comfortably host Wordpress on your own server, you’ll need at least: • 300 MB disk space • 20 GB bandwidth
Installation: Download • Wordpress.org • .zip (PC) • tar.gz (Mac)
Installation: Extract • Double click on file to extract • If you don’t have the correct extraction program, download: • WinZip (PC) • UnArchiver (Mac)
