  8. Remove EmailDefend Extension from Internet Explorer • Click the gear icon at the upper right corner and then select Manage add-ons from the list. Search for any unwanted add-ons and then click Disable button to remove them.

  9. Note: Due to EmailDefend will replace your search engine and your New Tab with search.EmailDefendsearch.com, so you need to remove this malicious search engine from your Internet Explorer. Please follow the below steps to completely remove it.

  10. • In the Manage Add-ons window, switch to Search Provider. Right-click malicious search engine and then choose Delete to remove it. Note: In order to permanently get rid of EmailDefend from your PC, you’d better reset your Internet Explorer to default setting.

  11. • Open your Internet Explorer, click the gear icon at the upper right corner and then select Internet options from the list. In the opened window, click Advanced tab at the top right and then click Reset button. Don’t forget to check Delete personal settings and then click Reset button. • When a window pops up as below, click Close button to complete the operation. • Restart your browser.

  12. Remove EmailDefend Extension from Mozilla Firefox • Click the 3 stripes icon at the upper right corner and then click Add-ons. Look for EmailDefend Extension and then click Remove button to uninstall it from your browser.

  13. Note: Due to EmailDefend will hijack your search engine and your New Tab with Search.EmailDefendsearch.com, so you need to remove this malicious search engine from your Firefox. Please follow the below steps to completely remove it.

  14. • Click Search tab and then choose Change Search Settings. In the opened window, find out Engine-EmailDefend from the search bar and then click Remove button to eliminate it. To completely remove EmailDefend, you need to reset your Mozilla Firefox to default settings. Please follow the detailed steps given below.

  15. • Click the 3 stripes icon at the upper right corner and then click the help icon at the lower right corner. Select Troubleshooting Information from the list. Click Refresh Firefox. When a window pops up as below, click Refresh Firefox to completely remove EmailDefend. • Restart your browser.

  16. Remove EmailDefend from Google Chrome • Click the 3 stripes icon at the top right corner and then click More tools > Extensions. In the opened window, look for EmailDefend Extensions and then click the trash icon to delete it from Google Chrome. • Close the window.

  17. Note: Due to EmailDefend replaces your search engine and your New Tab with search.EmailDefendsearch.com, so you need to remove this malicious search engine from your Google Chrome. Please follow the below steps to completely remove it.

  18. • Click the 3 stripes icon at the upper right corner and then choose Settings from the list. Now, you will get the window as shown below. Under the Search, you will find EmailDefend extension is controlling your setting, so you need to click Disable extension button to get rid of it. To completely remove this annoying extension, it is necessary to reset your Google Chrome to default settings.

  19. • After you click Disable extension button, scroll down to the bottom and then click Show advanced settings…. Then keep scrolling down to the bottom until you find Reset settings button and click it. In the opened window, click Reset button to complete the operation. • Restart your browser.

  21. • Simultaneously press Windows + R keys on the keyboard. Type regedit into the run box and click OK button.

  22. • In the opened window, click Edit and then select Find from the list. Then you will get a window as below, type EmailDefend into the box and click Find Next button. Right-click the malicious url and then select Delete to eliminate it.

  23. After removing this malicious url, to make sure your Registry Editor is clean you need to repeat the above steps, type EmailDefend into the Find box again and click Find Next button. If there is still harmful file related to this annoying extension, you need to continue to delete it.

  24. • Through repeating above operation, the malicious files should be completely deleted. The last step is to remove the folder of EmailDefendsearch.com. The steps are the same.

  25. Now you need to type EmailDefend.com or EmailDefendsearch.com into the Find box and then click Find Next button. Right-click EmailDefendsearch.com and then select Delete to eliminate it.
