Implementation of RBO II Technology & Promotion of Food Grade Jute Products (FGJP) Japan has bought large number of Food Grade Jute Bags Union Government is contemplating to introduce HCF Bags Special R & D efforts for further upgradation of RBO Technology with Chemical & Polymer Technology Cocoa producing & exporting Countries are showing keen interest on FGJP

Standardisation : BIS specification on woven Jute Geo-textiles (BIS : 14715 - 2000)iii Publication of Manual : A Manual on use of Jute Geo-textiles in Civil Engineering. iv. Dissemination through Seminar & Exhibition : a) Technical Exhibition on JGT at RDSO, Lucknow b) Technical Exhibition on JGT at Shillong c) National Seminar on JGT at Delhi d) National Workshop on JGT at Shillong

Jute Bags for Food Grains and Sugar Achievements : 50 kg. capacity cost effectiveFood Grain Bags Two types of bags developed, evaluated & sent to FCI for field trials. Stackability of 3000 bags in Punjab & Haryana was satisfactory. Performance of the newly developed lighter sacking bags, as substitute of 665 gm. Bags, found satisfactory. Field trials of 50 kg. capacity hemless bags ( 640 g) has been found satisfactory.
35th Annual General Meeting Achievements : (contd.) 50 kg. capacity lighter cost effectiveSugar Bags : 3 types of 50 kg. capacity sugar bags developed & commercial trials successfully completed. i ) 34½” X 23”; 8X8 ; DW Plain ; Hemmed ; Sacking ; 630 g/bag ii) 36” X 22”; 11 X 14 ; Hemmed ; Hessian ; 475 g/bag iii) 36” X 22” ; 11 X 12 ; Hemmed ; Hessian (with 60 gauge HM HDPE food grade quality loose liner); 424g/bag BIS has already taken necessary steps for finalising the specifications of above three types of bags.
35th Annual General Meeting Achievements :(Contd.) 55 kg.capacity Food Grain Bags : Dimension of the 55 kg. capacity bags have been standardised. Stacking trials have been conducted with FCI with the following two types of bags : i) 37” X 24” ; 6 X 7 ; DW Twill ; Sacking ; Hemmed ; 709 g/bag ; ii) 37” X 24” ; 10 X 10; DW Plain ; Tarpaulin; Selvedge ; 516g/bag Stack formation has been found to be satisfactory. Bags for packing commodities of different bulk densities & grain sizes have also been standardised in 4 categories namely coarse,semi-coarse, fine & very fine powdery substances

Jute Technical Textiles Achievements : Different types of Jute Blended Technical (multicomponent) yarns have been developed and various types of substitute of asbestos fabric substitute products have been manufactured with entrepreneur. Jute based Technical Textiles products meet the national & international standards for different specific end uses (Fabrics weight : 300 g/m2 - 665 g/m2) Products developed with entrepreneur (NAMITTAR, Kolkata). To replace asbestos fabrics used in the Friction Composite for Railways and Transport industries, three types of single / plied yarn (430 tex) developed from blends of jute ( upto 65% jute) with Kevlar, FR Viscose, Basofil. Products developed with entrepreneur ( Hindustan Co. Ltd., Mumbai).

35th Annual General Meeting F. Jute Reinforced Composites i) Earnings in 2000-01 - Technical Consultancy : Rs 3.11 lakhs - Testing : Rs. 0.33 lakhs ii) Product & Entrepreneurship Development
35th Annual General Meeting G. Yarn Spun from 100% Mesta Fibre Laboratory trial successfully completed AMV-4 Mesta variety cultivated in 2001 for approximately 300 quintal of fibre in Vizanagaram District of A.P.
35th Annual General Meeting H. Use of Finer Jute and Jute Blended Yarns in Handloom Sector Achievements : Manually operated Cop Winding Machine - commercialised. Manually operated Sizing Machine cum Warping Machine developed. Manually operated Cop winding M/c

Application of Natural Dyes Achievements : 25 Natural Dyes used for test dyeing on Jute Developed 40 Shades using Natural Dyes Printing on Jute Fabrics using eco-friendly guar gum & natural dyes showed satisfactory colourfastness. 14 nos. of entrepreneurs developed 35 Rural Artisans benefitted through training
35th Annual General Meeting J. Conservation of Lubricants in Jute Mills Achievement : 20-30% savings of Lubricants in Spinning & Weaving Section 7 Jute Mills participated Earnings through Technical Consultancy : Rs. 0.91 lakhs Published Technical Notes for Lubrication in Spinning & Weaving Sections
35th Annual General Meeting Technology Transfer in Jute Mills Towards increasing Spinning & Weaving Productivity i) Work completed in 4 Mills ii) Work in progress in 7 Mills Energy Audit : Completed in 2 Jute Mills Mandatory Energy Audit : In 5 Mills (continuing) Reduction of using JBO by chemicals : Implemented in 4 Mills In progress : 3 Mills Technical Consultancy ( in Lakh Rs.)
35th Annual General Meeting Services in Other Areas of Importance Report on Techno-economic Viability Studies for 6 units of NJMC Ltd. has been accepted by Ministry of Textiles & Indian Investment Bank of India ( Nodal Agency) Technical Consultancy has been extended to WEBCON for preparation of Jute Policy for Govt. of West Bengal Initiated pro-active role for Jute Technology Mission IJIRA/IJMA developed Breaker Card, Finisher Card and Rotary Gill Drawing (1st & 2nd) are being successfully commercialised
