I-20 Completion Date Must always be in the future
PAGE 3 Travel Signature Endorsement must be less than 6 months old when you travel Travel Signature
I-94 CARD Duration of Status Must say F-1 and D/S • Print your name as it is written on your Form I-20 • If only one name, print in Family name block, & enter FNU in First Name field • Spacing is important! • No Hyphens (-) permitted! Back side- should have your SEVIS number written

Immigration Regulations • Words of Wisdom Regarding Immigration issues: • Never go to or call “Immigration”, IRS, SSA or any Federal Office without consulting us first! • Also include Banks and DMV above • Consult with us first regarding immigration issues and then listen to friends, family etc. Immigration is a complex thing. Not two individuals will have the same cases.
Health Insurance • Federal & Fordham Requirement to have health insurance • You are automatically billed for FORDHAM INTERNATIONAL HEALTH INSURANCE • Annual Cost: $1134 • $408 Fall Semester (August 23, 2010 to December 31, 2010) • $726 Spring Semester (January 1, 2011 to August 23, 2011)

Go To URL: www.Fordham.edu/OIS Connect To On-Line Insurance Registration From Your Web Browser… • Click on “Current Students” on left side. Then click on Health and Safety. Then click on Health Insurance Info. • Click on the “SECURE Insurance registration process” and follow instructions. • Direct link is: https://secure.visitaci.com/insurance/Fordham/

Confirm Online Waiver Application • Print page for your records, then click on logout button • This will complete the online waiver process, however...
Your waiver application is not complete until your policy has been reviewed by the International Office at Fordham.
Waiver Process Instructions: • Complete the on-line insurance waiver request • Print out a copy of your completed waiver request (Print the final page of this process) • Obtain an English copy of your insurance policy • Highlight the Policy Maximum, the Deductible amount, and the Medical Evacuation and Repatriation benefit amounts. • Take the English copy of your insurance policy to the Office of International Services (OIS) along with your printed copy of your completed waiver request for their review within 5 days of completing this process (entire process must be completed before September 15, 2008). • Failure to completely follow these instructions will result in the Student Insurance charge remaining on your Student Account.

Housing • On-campus • Undergraduates: Available to all • Graduates: • RH: Keith Plaza- Only • LC: University owned apartments available only to GBA, LAW, GSS and GSE students. (Call Lincoln Center Graduate Res. Life) • Off-campus • Apartment hunting: • Utilize friends, Village Voice, Craigslist etc… (Links to some websites on our website) • Check bulletin outside the Res. Life Office for listings (Alumni Court North Basement, R-Hill)
Housing • Leases • Credit check and References • Common practice: 1month rent + 1 month security + 1 month broker’s fee (if renting thru broker)
Banking • Open a checking account • We will give you a letter if desired • You can open one without a SS#, but some banks (Chase for instance) charge extra to do a background check without SS#. The ones that do not have such a policy as far as we know: • Citibank • Bank of New York • Wachovia
Cell Phones and Credit Cards • Social Security number and cell phone company • What to do? • Fordham Ram Cell • Prepaid cards • How to build a credit history? • Open Checking account • Secure credit card • Be selective, be aware of interest rates & fees • Establish good credit habits as soon as possible
Driver’s Licenses and ID Cards Apply for license at NY Dept of Motor Vehicles (DMV) : • Social Security card (2 points). If not eligible get letter from SS Office that states ineligible for Social #. Letter shouldn’t be more than 30 days old. • Proof of Identification = 6 points Total including Proof of Date of Birth How to get 6 points if no Social Security Number: • Passport, Visa, I-94, I-20 = 3 points (Proof of Date of Birth) • Health Insurance card, Utility bill = 1 point EACH • ONE of the following items: Bank statement, Cancelled check, US credit card = 1 point TOTAL After one semester: US College ID & Official Transcript = 2 points NY ID Cards (not for driving): Same as above (4 pts + SS or SS letter + 6 pts)
Social Security Cards • Changes in law make it harder to get • Use our office to get services w/o a Social Security number. • If qualify: Come to the office to get a letter and instructions on where to go • Takes about 2-3 weeks to get SS
