State Hwy 24 Project Map 10.4 Mile Project
State Hwy 24 Project • For over 30 years, our community leaders have urged the Texas Legislature, TxDOT, and the Texas Transportation Commission to upgrade and widen State Hwy 24 from a 2-lane highway to a 4-lane divided highway from I-30 Exit 101 to US 271. • Gives 4-lane access through Hunt, Delta and Lamar Counties to I-30 and supports public safety and economic development. • Only Stretch of SH 24 that has not been upgraded to a 4-lane divided highway is 10.4 mile gap from FM 64 SW to FM 904 in Delta County (the SH 24 project).
State Hwy 24 Project • In 2008, SuRRMA became operational to focus on transportation needs in the Sulphur River Region (Hunt, Delta and Lamar Counties). • Results of SuRRMA’s Long Range Project Plan selected SH 24 as one of its Priority Projects. • SH 24 Project was recently approved for Proposition 12 funding in Paris District.
State Hwy 24 Project • SuRRMA is sponsoring the project and acting as the local funding conduit to provide TxDOT required local funding. • Local funding will be used for acquiring ROW and adjusting utilities by TxDOT. • SuRRMA has arranged for SIB Loans with local governments providing the credit backing and security to leverage the local funding.
SuRRMA Future Plans • As our British friends across the pond say --- “Mind the Gap”--- • Closing the SH 24 Gap is the near term focus for SuRRMA.
