  2. M&O cat A 2002 Preventivo = 371 kCHF (including power) Consuntivo = 88kCHF Spese minori per : - Power - Cooling costs (106) non caricati - Test beam (93 per sistema di gas e consumo gas) Spese non previste : - On-line computing (12 per licenze software) “ Only 336 KCHF were invoiced. Savings on the budget, excluding power, for the year amount to 233 KCHF. The policy for dealing with the positive balance will be addressed and decided at the RRB meeting.” Contributo Italia = 61,024 Credito = 44,181 G. Martellotti Roma-02-04- 2003

Per il 2003 e 2004 le stime attuali sono le stesse presentate e concordate con lo scrutiny group in autunno 2002 M&O cat A - 2003 Preventivo totale 570 kCHF (450 senza power) ( 80.5 kCHF fatturati all’Italia) M&O cat A - 2004 Preventivo totale 807 k CHF (802 senza power) (145.6 kCHF per l’Italia) I costi dovrebbe scendere “ The figures for the 2004 budget will be re-examined firstly within LHCB, and afterwards by the Scrutiny Group. It is hoped that they can be reduced considerably “ G. Martellotti Roma-02-04- 2003

G. Martellotti Roma-02-04- 2003

  10. From LHCb spokesman to LHCb representatives in the national funding agencies: In theMoU, Brasil contribution is foreseen to be 1.22 MCHF for the Muon Project and 0.48 MCHF for the Common Fund. Although the sum amounts to only 2.2% of the total detector cost, it is a sizeable fraction (11%) for the Muon cost.     Brazil has not signed the MoU and it is not very likely that funding becomes available in the near future. Given the situation that the construction of the muon system will start this spring, we have toinform the Resource Review Board of this situation during the meeting in April 26th.     In the meeting, the LHCb management will inform the RRB that 1) Brazil has not yet signed the construction MoU 2) Little information can be provided for their funding prospects 3) Although we will try hard to get the funding, we are exploring variouspossibilities how to cope with the case of eventual default. 4) Any help from the RRB will be welcomed. We have discussed with Roger Cashmore and he supports fully this procedure. Please inform your funding agency before the RRB meeting. G. Martellotti Roma-02-04- 2003
