What is the PCDC? • The PCDC is an opportunity for students to learn and use technical skills & teamwork to run and protect a business network. Students protect their network against external threats while competing against other teams in a realistic cyber environment. The first day of the competition will be between South Carolina colleges and universities. The second day of the competition will be between qualifying South Carolina High Schools. The students from each school will comprise the Blue Teams that will be responsible for operating a small network while protecting the network infrastructure from Red Team attacks. Blue Teams will be scored for accomplishing administrative and business tasks while maintaining network/service availability (such as mail and web servers) as well as their ability to detect and respond to threats. Students must be able to design, configure and protect their network. Teams must also be able to respond to business requests such as the addition or removal of additional services, and balance security needs against business needs. The PCDC is held in April to fit between the Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition Regional Competitions and exams. It is conducted in close cooperation with our local industry partners.
