Abstract • iJET provides straight talk and advice on how to protect yourself and your property while traveling internationally. • The best way to ensure a safe, healthy and productive trip is to: • prevent problems before they happen and • be prepared to know what to do if a problem does occur. • We promote a comprehensive program that includes training, intelligence, insurance and assistance to mitigate threats and lower traveler risk.

Social Media Risks • Do not disclose travel plans on Facebook or other social media sites. • Do not post while on travel – discloses where you are, and are not! • Caution on using Twitter or other IM software in high risk countries • Be cautious of who you friend – especially on travel • Consider having two personalities – “Open You” and “Closed You”
Be Aware! Your mobile telephone has four major vulnerabilities 1. Vulnerability to monitoring of your conversations while using the phone. 2. Vulnerability of your phone being turned into a microphone to monitor conversations in the vicinity of your phone while your phone is inactive. 3. Vulnerability to tracking your phone based on its emitter or GPS data. 4. Vulnerability to "cloning," or the use of your phone number by others to make calls that are charged to your account.

What to do? • Contacts, email, calendars are synchronized with company Blackberry’s • Enable PIN/Password – And Auto-Wipe • Record Make/Model/Serial Numbers • Maintain continuous control of your devices • Lock in safe if you leave in room • Do not use unprotected networks • Do not allow web browser to save login & password
Guidelines for Travelers – Before Travel • Leave all but essential storage devices at home. • Enable “user authentication” -- requiring a password or PIN on your device to gain access. Use a strong (combination of number, digit, and special character) password. • Provisur IT keeps firewall and Anti-virus updated on company laptops. • Traveling with personal laptop, ensure firewall and Anti-Virus are updated • Do not install updates without permission of IT • Beware “Virus Hoax” sites

Traveling with Equipment and Tools • Air transport rules make it very difficult to travel with tool boxes • Either check entire box or have one carry on and one checked… consider overnight shipping • Ideally client/distributor should have required parts … or ship ahead • Declaration of “Commercial Items” • Maintain constant awareness of your toolbox (proximity alarm)
Hotel Safety & Security 101 • International hotels are not subject to western safety and security standards • Planning, Arrival & Departure • On Arrival • When in Your Room • At the Hotel
Fire Events • DURING FIRE • Know your exits • Don’t succumb to peer-pressure, leave when alarm sounds • Stay low if smoke • Alert others • Do not use elevators • Call Emergency Services • IF TRAPPED • Close doors and seal all cracks • Move to window for air • Signal fire-fighters with a white sheet or towel • Keep low to the floor • Listen for instructions
Food & Water Safety • Select food carefully • Food should be cooked thoroughly and eaten while still hot • Avoid food that has been kept for long periods (street vendors) • Fruit should be washed and then peeled • Avoid unpasteurized milk and cheese • Use bottled water or boil water for at least 1 minute
What if you get Sick? • Provisur has insurance providers that cover employees based on their office location. • HR is developing a Traveler’s Instruction Card • Instructions based on traveler’s office location • Information will include what to do and who to call. Note: Most medical facilities require payment BEFORE you receive services
