Jaqua Tract Wildlife Habitat Acquisition for Lower McKenzie Watershed Conservation

This proposal aims to acquire 1240 acres of conifer forest, grassland, and oak habitat in the Jaqua Tract of the Lower McKenzie Watershed, Oregon.   2. Project Background • Acquired 32 acre conservation easement • Began discussions with neighboring landowner (Jaqua) • Completed a preliminary habitat assessment • Landowner has agreed to sell at fair market value • Pursuing funding for acquisition and for a management endowment

  3. Target Species • Band-tailed pigeons • Black-capped chickadee • Black bear • Blacktailed deer • Cougar • Pileated woodpecker • Red-tailed hawk • Valley quail • Western meadowlark • Yellow warbler
