  1. Aqua Lung By: Hamad Al Dafaa

  2. Introduction The Aqua Lung is a device that allows people to breath under water for a long time. They use to only use the Aqua Lung only for the armies but n0w they are selling them to people to use. Divers use them to know more about the ocean and more about the fish that live in the ocean. People also buy them to be able to swim the fish.

  3. What is the problem? It was in World War 2 (WW2) The military needed it to destroy the ships WW2. They needed a way to sneak in the enemies base. If they parachuted they could shoot them down and that would be more dangerous. So Jacques Cousteau was a fought was for the French Navy as a gunnery officer. He built the Aqua Lung so they could sneak in by underwater. They use it to also to get rid of the mines after WW2.

  4. The Inventor Jacques Cousteau was the one who invented the Aqua Lung. Jacques Cousteau was born on June 11 1910. He always loved the water and in his early teens he became interested in machines. At the age of 11, Cousteau built a model crane and at 13, he built a battery-operated car. He also got interested in films. He saved money to by a film camera. In 1933 he joined the French Navy as a gunnery officer. It was this time that he began working on the Aqua Lung. He fought for the French in WW2 and still found time to work no the Aqua Lung. In 1943, he and a French engineer Emile Gagnan perfected the Aqua Lung which allowed a diver to stay underwater for several hours. The used the Aqua Lung to locate and remove the enemies mines After WW2.

  5. Story of the Aqua Lung First the needed a way to sink ships or remove mines but if they went there they would get shot. If they went by parachute they could get shot down while they are gliding down. So they made the Aqua Lung and dove under the ships or mine and blew it up or sink it without the enemies knowing.

  6. How does the Aqua Lung work? The Aqua Lung was made of a container of compressed air, a valve and a mouthpiece for the individual using the device to breath through. This apparatus is attached to the diver, who swims with it on his or her back. The only limitation on the diver is the amount of oxygen in the tank. The valve is very important because it regulates not only the flow of oxygen but also the air pressure of the oxygen. Cousteau modified a valve from a car engine so that just the right amount of oxygen would be released depending on the diver's depth. This was very important because as divers go deeper, their lungs compress.

  7. How does this solve the problem? Now people don’t only use it for the armies now its selling all over the world. Divers buy them to dive and learn more about the oceans and what live in the oceans. Now thanks to the Aqua Lung we know more about the ocean and we know more about the dangerous parts were there are sharks and other dangerous creatures that live in the sea..

  8. What did Humans do before the it was invented? Humans had to train before going diving. They had to learn how to hold their breaths for like 2 minutes or more. If they had to go a little deeper they had to wear a big suit with a big metal helmet that covers the hole head and has a glass part were the divers could see through it. There’s a tube stuck on top or behind the helmet and the tube goes all the way up to the surface. The diver hate to use the tube to breath. That is dangerous cause if spin around you can tangle the tube up and then cant breath and sometimes water would go inside the helmet.

  9. How did the invention improved the human life? It allowed people to be able to go the oceans and seas and study, research the creatures under the water. It also gave a fun activity for many people and in almost any age. Scuba diving, many people want to go scuba to see what's in the water and feel it instead of seeing it on T.V. Many people also want to swim dolphins and other animals.

  10. Changes over time First was the big suit that I already talked about. Then they made a Aqua Lung but not the original one. The one they made would let you breath underwater but doesn’t give you fresh air. Then Jacques Cousteau and Emile Gagnan perfected the Aqua Lung which gave fresh air and still allows you to stay for several hours.

  11. What new challenges were made because this invention Now people want to make the Aqua Lung better cause the Aqua Lung lets you go deep under the ocean but still not all the way. Now people want to make it better so people could go deeper underwater but still can breath.

  12. Timeline of the Aqua Lung 1878 - A self-contained underwater breathing unit is invented by Henry Fleuss. 1911 - Draeger of Germany releases an oxygen rebreather. 1943 - Jacques-Yves Cousteau and Emile Gagnan design and tested the first Aqua-Lung. 1949 - Several shops across the U.S. are now selling Aqua Lungs. 1951- Shop over the world selling were now selling Aqua Lungs.
