SAMPLE Title Molecule in Review Name (Group) Synthesis Literacy Group Date Columbia University Chemistry
Format (suggested) • Total Synthesis • Brief history of molecule (isolation and discovery) and/or biological activity • Comparative syntheses (only most significant ones) • First synthesis, improvements thereafter, etc. • Key steps • Critical evaluation of syntheses? • Methodology • Brief history of molecule (discovery, design, historical perspective, seminal literature, etc) • Uses in synthesis • Whatever else seems appropriate • Mechanism problem (optional) Last Name 2 - CU Synthesis Lit Group - Title
Presentation Guidelines • Presentation basics • Presentations should be 30-45 minutes • Redraw molecules and tables, if possible • Try to stick to basic format for homogeneity • Color scheme is up to you (please stick with white background) • Make sure molecules are large and bold enough to read • Misc • Email Teresa or Adel with your topics no later than a week before your presentation! • Remember to fill out evaluations of presentations online! • Remember your week for snacks and keep receipts! • Have fun!!
