Activitiesproposed for procurement(EGEP-1st Batch) 1.RIMS V3 PrototypeDevelopment 2.Galileo 2G Phase A/B SatelliteStudies 3.Electrical Propulsion subsystem Industrialisation and Thruster operational characterisation 4. Inter Satellite Link (ISL) Pre-development
1.RIMS V3 Prototype Development • This activity comprises the pre-development of the future EGNOS V3 Ranging and Monitoring Stations (RIMS), which are intended to enter into operational service as of 2020 and will be based on the preliminary specification for the Data Collection Segment (DCS) currently being prepared in the frame of the running EGNOS V3 Phase AX+B contracts. It is proposed to cover this objective through parallel contracts. • This activity is budgeted with up to 9.0 M€ for up to two parallel contracts awarded further to a Competitive Tendering (Art 21.1.c of the Procurement Regulations).
2.Galileo 2G Phase A/B SatelliteStudies • This activity will define and preliminary design the 2nd generation of the Galileo satellites, that will have increased payload capabilities. • The activity will be based on feasibility studies carried out internally by the Agency during 2011-12 and will introduce a non-direct injection launch policy considered mandatory to comply with the requirement for increased payload capabilities and to avoid at the same time to increase launch costs for the next generation of the Galileo satellites. • This activity is budgeted with up to 16.0 M€, and it is proposed to implement it through up to three parallel contracts to be awarded further to a Competitive Tendering (Art 21.1.c of the Procurement Regulations) and with a phased approach allowing to review and refine the activity requirements after phase A.
3.Electrical Propulsion subsystem Industrialisation and Thruster operational characterisation • This technology preparation activity will include manufacturing, assembly and test of an Engineering Model of an electrical propulsion thruster and a bread-board of its power supply. The aim is to consolidate the capability of the current Electric Propulsion (EP) subsystems manufactured in Europe for achieving the performance envelope imposed by the foreseen evolution in requirements for the Galileo mission. The definition of this activity has been coordinated with other EP-related activities of the Agency for the purpose of synergy and assuring complementarity. It is proposed to cover this objective through parallel contracts. • This activity is budgeted with up to 3.6 M€ to be allocated further to a Competitive Tendering for a maximum amount of 1.2 M€ each according to Art. 21.1.b) of the Procurement Regulations.
4. Inter Satellite Link (ISL) Pre-development • This activity will include definition, design, manufacturing, assembly and test of an ISL payload model, including transponder and antenna, that will be demonstrated on ground for the validation of critical key performance parameters of ISL communication and ranging. • This activity is budgeted with up to 8.0 M€ for a contract awarded further to Competitive Tendering (Art 21.1.c of the Procurement Regulations).
