How New Generations Came to be • Every 3 years the Council on Legislation (COL) meets to consider change. • “Youth Service” has been proposed as the 5th Avenue of Service many times during the last 20 years. • In April of 2010 the COL accepted the proposal presented by Ron Sekkel from District 5170 with a minor name change to New Generations Service. • New Generations as an Avenue of Service will have an international affect on Rotary with additional and intentional focus placed on Rotary programs for youth and young adults.

  4. INTERACT*Youth ages 12-18*Community Based or School Based*Sponsored by a Club*Critical to have continued support from the sponsoring club and its advisors

  5. ROTARACT*young adults ages 18-30*Members live, work, or Study within the vicinity of the sponsoring Rotary club*Goals are to develop professional and leadership skills; provide opportunities for addressing needs in the community; to motivate members to become lifelong Rotarians

  6. RYLA (rotary youth leadership awards)*RI Structured program for ages 14-18 and 19-30 *Intent is to develop qualities of leadership, good citizenship, and personal development *Conducted at Club of district level *Most follow a seminar or camp format

  7. Rotary YOUTH EXCHANGE*RI Structured program giving youth ages 15-19 an opportunity to visit or study abroad*Long Term Exchanges*Short Term Exchanges*New Generations Exchanges allows ages 18-25 to visit or study up to 3 months

  8. WHY THE FIFTH AVENUE OF SERVICE NOW? • Past RI President Luis Vicente Giay said: “Our vision for the future, now more than ever, is the difference between success and failure. The New Generations are our investment in the future. Let us begin to build that future today.”
