How New Generations Came to be • Every 3 years the Council on Legislation (COL) meets to consider change. • “Youth Service” has been proposed as the 5th Avenue of Service many times during the last 20 years. • In April of 2010 the COL accepted the proposal presented by Ron Sekkel from District 5170 with a minor name change to New Generations Service. • New Generations as an Avenue of Service will have an international affect on Rotary with additional and intentional focus placed on Rotary programs for youth and young adults.

INTERACT*Youth ages 12-18*Community Based or School Based*Sponsored by a Club*Critical to have continued support from the sponsoring club and its advisors
ROTARACT*young adults ages 18-30*Members live, work, or Study within the vicinity of the sponsoring Rotary club*Goals are to develop professional and leadership skills; provide opportunities for addressing needs in the community; to motivate members to become lifelong Rotarians
RYLA (rotary youth leadership awards)*RI Structured program for ages 14-18 and 19-30 *Intent is to develop qualities of leadership, good citizenship, and personal development *Conducted at Club of district level *Most follow a seminar or camp format
Rotary YOUTH EXCHANGE*RI Structured program giving youth ages 15-19 an opportunity to visit or study abroad*Long Term Exchanges*Short Term Exchanges*New Generations Exchanges allows ages 18-25 to visit or study up to 3 months
