1 Introduction • How to carry out quality-oriented education? • What is the content of quality-oriented education of English teaching? How to put quality-oriented education in English teaching of middle school into practice? • The author has discussed these problems which affect the application of the quality-oriented education in English teaching of middle school, and she will solve these problems through the investigation.

2.1 Objects of investigation • This objects being investigated in this paper are the junior middle school students and English teachers in Wu Wei Railway Middle School of Lan Zhou, Gansu province . • This paper sent out 100 pieces of questionnaire and received 100 pieces. 50 pieces is for students and the rest is for English teachers.
2.2 The tool of investigation • The questionnaire is about English teachers' quality, students' quality, English teaching in middle school and quality-oriented education, it includes 40 questions.
2.3 The collection of the data • 71% teachers-traditional way • Teachers-85 % vocabulary ﹠the grammar points. • over 50 % students-no interest • 78 % students- above 80 scores • 75 % teachers- high-score students-the best

3.1 Quality and Quality-oriented Education • The quality of human brings refers to the established physical and psychological attributes formed on the basis of inherited and acquired characteristics through the influence of environment and education. • Quality-oriented education is a concept of education. It demands for combining teaching, cultivating the ability with improving the quality. It pays attention to the differences of character.
3.2 Quality-oriented education in English teaching • In English teaching, great importance should be attached to the all-round development of the abilities of listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation. This is the main points of quality-oriented education in English teaching.
3.3 The features • Every student should be the actor of the English class • Teachers the basic knowledge of English, cultivate students’ ability in an all round way. • Design their teaching activity according to the practical ability of the students • Teachers should show real equality to every student, help them to find their position in class and life. • Students' grasp of basic knowledge and skills • Teachers instruct students to keep pace with times and adjust their studying method to adapt to the society.
