Tsunami • Tsunami`s are a series of huge waves that strike coastal areas. Tsunami`s are caused by earthquakes, typically underwater. If an earthquake reaches 6.5 on land, it can cause a tsunami. About 90% of tsunami`s occur in the Pacific ocean.
Hurricane • Hurricanes are dangerous tropical storms that that spiral up and inward. The middle of the storm is actually the calmest. It is clear and sunny. This is called the eye. The eyewall is the most dangerous part of the hurricane. It surrounds the eye and has the most damaging winds and storms.
Tornado • A tornado is almost the opposite of a hurricane. It spirals downward and outward. It spins clockwise as a hurricane spins counterclockwise. Tornados aren`t as destructive as hurricanes. They can have lightning storms within them but it is very rare.
Flood • A flood is usually the effect of a hurricane, tornado, or tsunami. They are very dangerous because you never know what could be in the dirty water. Knives, and other sharp household items, and cars could be hiding in there. When floods come people usually climb on top of their houses for safety.
Drought • Droughts occur after an extreme lack of rain. Droughts are dangerous to all living things in that area. They most likely occur in the deserts. When the ground gets extremely dry sometimes it will even crack like in the picture. Droughts can also cause food and crops do die which is not good for farmers.
