  2. Activate Prior Knowledge • My Pet’s Better than Yours Task 1 • Write name, class period and date on the worksheet • 10 minutes to complete the worksheet • Discuss/Collect worksheet

  3. Group Feedback/Discussion • Students discuss and give insight into responses . . .

  4. Getting Started- Guided Practice • Write mom and dad, then list all of their parents siblings under the appropriate parent. • Assign one block to each of their aunts and uncles and lock them together to form one column with the blocks representing each one of their aunts and uncles.

  5. Compiling Data • Bring each locked block tower to the flat level surface and arrange then in any fashion • Share opinions with the class

  6. Arranging Data using The Number Line • Bring the sticky note to the number line and place the sticky note above the corresponding number • Discuss with your neighbor what the data display created means, and how it compares with the display created with the blocks. • Share with the class

  7. Independent Practice Data Question: How many pets do you have? • Separate students into groups of four. • One student (chosen by the group of four), will gather information from all the group members and share the information with the other groups. • Students work independently to organize and plot the data collected

  8. Group/Class Discussion • Students to compare and discuss their dot plot with the members in their group, explain their reasoning for placement and quantity of the dots on the plot. • Is there a consensus within the group? Why? Why not

  9. Assessment • Work independently
