Choosing a topic • What color is this horse? • Dapple grey, Flea bitten grey, Roan, white, Appaloosa? • Topic: Horse Colors • Must be horse related • Something that confuses you • Something that interests you • Personally I was really interested in riding sidesaddle and looking to buy one • Topic: Buying a sidesaddle

  3. Title • Short, but interesting How to properly fit a bit to your horse’s mouth Fit the Bit • Catches listener’s attention Barrel Racing Tack The Tack-nicalities of Barrel Racing

  4. Visual Aids • Posters, Power Point Presentation • Videos, Pictures • Handouts • Props • Clothing choices can be used as props • No actual animals

  5. The Presentation- some details • Intro: just like the title- catch listener’s attention, short, to the point • Timing: aim for a few minutes longer than minimum time allotted incase you talk a little faster than normal • Notes: are allowed, but don’t rely on them (practice without) • Conclusion: like the intro- short, relevant • Cite References: bring in your actual sources if possible (or a picture of the source) • Questions: be sure to repeat the questions audience can hear question

  21. Impromptu Speaking • Senior only • No prior knowledge of topic • Chose between 2 topics • 15 minutes to prepare • No visual aids • 5-8 minutes
