Vocabulary • Marijuana – A plant whose leaves, buds/flowers R usually smoked 4 their intoxicating effect • Paranoia – An irrational suspiciousness or distrust of others. • Inhalants – substances whose fumes R sniffed/inhaled 2 achieve a mind altering effect. • Anabolic-Androgenic Steroids – Synthetic substances that R similar 2 t male sex hormore testosterone.

Marijuana • Widely used • AKA grass, weed, pot • Hashish or hash R stronger form of MJ • Users R 17X more likely 2 use cocaine • Is mind altering • Deadly when combined w/oth drugs (alcohol) • Contains 421 Chem’s • THC (d-alpha-tetrahydrocannabinol) • Stored in body fat • Stays in blood 4 a mo. Or longer • Lasting effects on brain

  4. Marijuana/Addiction • Raises Dopamine level (brain chem.) • Dope releases pleasure, intense well-being • Crash – when drug wear off • Has cancer-causing chem.. • Tobacco • Interferes w/immune system
