  2. Disaster Assistance Employee DAE • Hiring authority authorized by the Stafford Act (PL93-288 5149) • Presidential declared emergencies

  3. DAE – Description & Key Requirements • Hire authority delegated to regions & hdqtrs • Only used to perform DAE related work: specific disasters, emergencies, projects, or activities of a non-continuous nature • Requires SF-52 and supporting documentation for hiring • Individual must meet qualifications for the position

  4. DAE – Description & Key Requirements • Two types of DAE’s • Local Hire • 120 day appointment • May be renewed for additional 120 days • Salaries set at prevailing local rates • Reservists – activated when need arises • On FEMA personnel roles for 24 months • Expires 9/30 of every even numbered year • May not exceed 18 months in 24 month period
