Exercise Science For students interested in a strong bioscience-based study. Prepares students for post graduate studies in Exercise Science or Allied Health. This major can lead to advanced credentials in a variety of health careers: Medicine, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant, Dentistry, Pharmacy, etc.

Kinesiology Focus on exercise & movement. Must Know Information for Transfer Students • You register today!!! • Transfer credit evaluations should be completed at the end of the first quarter of attendance. • Drop courses on time. Within the first 7 days of the quarter, students may withdraw from any course with no record of the individual course withdrawal. • Limit = 28 quarter units of “W” grades.
WPE (Writing Proficiency Exam) = UNIV 400 • Must take within the first 3 quarters at Cal State L.A. • A grade of C or better in ENGL 102 is the prerequisite for the WPE. • Registration is through GET (UNIV 400). • For help in enrolling for UNIV 400, contact the University Testing Center. • For help in preparing for the exam, contact the University Writing Center.
HHS 301 Exempt • Effective Fall 2014, new transfer students will NOT be held to HHS 301. • If any new students do enroll in HHS 301, course will count only as a free elective.
English 102 Equivalency • Transfer students who completed English 102 equivalency at a community college will need to go to the Testing Center to: • Verify English 102 completion • Request a permit to enroll in the WPE/UNIV 400
Graduation Requirements • 180 degree units required to graduate, a maximum of 105 Community College units may be applied. • 60 units of Upper Division units. • 45 units in residence, which 36 must be 300 and 400 level; 18 must be in the major and 12 must be General Education (G.E. Upper Division Theme). • 60 units of Lower Division General Education. • 12 units of Upper Division General Education.
Grade Point Average (GPA) • 2.0 minimum in Major, Overall, Cal State L.A. & GE. • Below 2.0= Probation • If satisfactory progress is not made in improving GPA= Disqualification. • If disqualified, reinstatement can be requested within 2 quarters. • If student fails to request reinstatement within 2 quarters = must reapply for readmission.
University Diversity (d)Requirement • Requirement - 2 diversity courses. • Italicized lower case “d” in parentheses before the course listing, i.e. (d)LAS/PAS 342. • May be taken in the G.E. Lower Division Courses or the G.E. Upper Division Theme. • Transfer classes are counted as diversity classes only if articulated with Cal State L.A. courses.
