Learning objectives The student will be enabled to: • Identify different artificial light sources • Know the impact of these light sources in daily life Learning outcomes: The student will learn: • what LEDs, LCDs, TFTs, Light bulbs and gas lamps are and where they’re used (i.e. in phones, TVs, computer screens). • the technical workings of LEDs, LCDs, TFTs, Light bulbs within the concepts described by ‘ Syllabus Physics 2012x.’

  4. Strategies Group work: Small groups of students will be given the assignment to specialize in a specific light source (i.e. LED, TFT). The groups will present their knowledge on that light source to the other groups. The teacher will guide students in their group work and will make sure the information presented is correct.

  5. Procedures • Internet is the primary source of information. The teacher will guard the scientific literacy by making sure the groups use scientific papers and abstracts. • The groups will make their presentation digitally and follow a standard template. • The class will be divided into small groups of 4/5 students and the groups are physically separated (i.e. by distance).

  6. Evaluation • The teacher will evaluate the group work by walking around and observing. Only major deviations from the average can be observed. • Each group’s presentation is graded. The group gets a certain amount of credits (or an average grade). The group can divide the credits/grade among themselves.
